Presenting the ASC Ventilated Backplate for 130mm Sharpstar Newtonian Astrograph
This ventilated backplate replaces the standard mirror cell backplate for the 130mm Sharpstar Newtonian Astrograph. This specially-designed acrylic backplate features an air inlet which allows the interior of the OTA to equalize temperate with that of the surroundings, allowing the primary mirror to reach ambient temperature, thereby minimizing condensation. The air is introduced into the mirror cell via an ultra-quiet 5.5cm Noctua fan positioned at the air inlet. 12v fan is powered via standard USB port.
Installation instructions:
STEP 1: Remove the Sharpstar’s mirror cell assembly by taking out the side screws.
STEP 2: Once the mirror cell is removed, carefully place it on the table so that the primary mirror is facing down and the back plate is facing upwards.
STEP 3: Remove the retaining screws and the collimating screws. Take note of the position of the springs.
STEP 4: Replace the metal back plate with the ventilated backplate. Make sure the screw holes are aligned, and the springs are placed in their original positions.
STEP 5: Reinsert the retaining screws and the collimating screws, again making sure that the springs are placed back in their original screw (the large retaining screw).
STEP 6: Reinsert the mirror cell back into the Sharpstar’s OTA, and reinsert and tighten the side screws.
STEP 7: Test the fan. Then perform collimation. If everything is working properly, the telescope is now good for use.
