An Important Step Forward for Dar Al-Falak

MOU Signing ceremony

We are pleased to share an important milestone for Dar Al-Falak. Astronomical Solutions Company has signed a memorandum of understanding with Oman’s Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology and the Environment Authority, marking a formal step forward for the project and providing an important basis for continued progress. The memorandum was signed with H.E. Dr. Ali bin Amer Al Shidhani, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology for Communications and Information Technology, and H.E. Dr. Abdullah bin Ali Al Amri, President of the Environment Authority, representing the government entities involved.

For those hearing about Dar Al-Falak for the first time, it is a project by Astronomical Solutions Company to create a dedicated astronomy destination in Oman. It is being developed as an observatory hosting campus with a wider vision that brings together astronomy, space-related activity, and astronomy tourism in one destination.

The project is intended to combine several complementary elements. These include facilities for hosting privately owned and institutionally operated telescopes, infrastructure that can support commercial and research activity linked to the night sky, and hospitality and visitor experiences designed around stargazing and dark-sky appreciation. In simple terms, Dar Al-Falak is being shaped as a place where astronomy can be hosted, experienced, and advanced.

In practical terms, the project is designed to serve more than one audience. On one side, it is intended to support serious astronomy users, including space situational awareness and related space-sector companies, research-driven operators, and advanced hobbyists who need a suitable location to host and operate telescopes. On the other side, it is also being designed to welcome people who want to experience astronomy in a more accessible and memorable way, whether through stargazing, overnight stays, or astronomy-focused tourism experiences. That combination is central to the project’s identity.

Our ambition is to create a place where astronomy lives in a real and lasting sense. A place where technical users can benefit from purpose-built hosting infrastructure, and where visitors can connect with the night sky in a setting that is meaningful, inspiring, and shaped by the natural strengths of the site. We believe Dar Al-Falak can bring together science, enterprise, education, and tourism in a way that is both practical and forward-looking.

For our team, this milestone carries real significance. Dar Al-Falak has always been more than a simple facility plan. It is a long-term vision to create a destination that supports astronomy-related activity in a practical way while also opening the door to wider public engagement and new opportunities for Oman. We see potential for the project to contribute to areas such as space and satellite support, amateur and professional astronomy, education, and astronomy tourism, all within a concept rooted in the country’s natural strengths.

We also believe that projects like this matter because they help turn ambition into something tangible. They create spaces where ideas can be tested, where communities can gather, and where international interest can connect with local opportunity. In that sense, Dar Al-Falak is not only about telescopes or buildings. It is about creating an ecosystem around astronomy that can grow over time and deliver value in different ways.

We are especially grateful to the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology and the Environment Authority for their ongoing support in helping make this progress possible. Advancing a project of this nature requires constructive engagement, shared vision, and sustained institutional support, and we sincerely appreciate the role both entities have played in helping move Dar Al-Falak forward.

There is still work ahead, but this milestone gives the project meaningful momentum. It allows us to continue refining, planning, and progressing with greater clarity, and it reinforces our belief in what Dar Al-Falak can become.

We look forward to sharing more as the project continues to move ahead.
