Spectrometer testing helps you confirm whether your filters are performing according to their specifications. If the filters are not working as expected, you may be able to request a warranty claim from the manufacturer or select a different filter that better suits your needs. Additionally, testing helps you determine if a filter’s bandpass is broad enough to be used with fast f-ratio telescopes. This is important because fast f-ratio systems can cause a filter’s effective bandpass to shift, potentially reducing the filter’s efficiency. A broader bandpass is typically more suitable for these systems, ensuring more of the desired light is captured without performance loss.
